Pistol Fundamentals | Florida Concealed Carry Certification
Taught by an NRA-certified instructor and Range Safety Officer. Experienced in beginner instruction. Focused on building safe, competent first-time shooters.
Classroom instruction followed by live fire application at the range. All-inclusive — 50 rounds of ammunition, range fees, and safety equipment provided.
If you're serious about carrying, you need more than a signature on a form. This class gives you the foundation — how firearms work, why they fail, and how to shoot with real technique. You'll also leave with a signed training certificate that satisfies the requirement to apply for a Florida Concealed Weapon License.
No prior experience required. Everything is provided.
What We Cover
Firearm Safety & Handling
The Four Universal Safety Rules — not just the rules, but the reasoning behind them. The difference between a negligent discharge and an accidental one, and why that distinction matters. How to safely clear both semi-automatic pistols and revolvers.
How Firearms Work
Semi-automatic vs. revolver — mechanics, components, and what makes a handgun suitable for defensive carry. Manual safety vs. combat-ready configuration and the real tradeoffs between them.
Ammunition
Cartridge anatomy, FMJ vs. hollow point, and when each is appropriate. How to inspect carry ammunition and identify defects before they cause problems. Misfire, hangfire, and squib load — how to recognize each and exactly what to do. Why repeatedly chambering the same round is a reliability problem most people never think about.
Shooting Fundamentals
Grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, follow-through. The four phases of trigger operation. Trigger reset and why it matters for follow-up shots. Shooting cadence — how to balance speed and accuracy based on distance and target size. Low Ready and when to use it.
Live Fire
Every round is coached. You'll apply what you learned in the classroom with direct instruction at the range. The goal isn't volume — it's building technique that holds up when you're on your own at the range.
Designed for first-time and newer shooters. Limited to 4 students per class to ensure individual coaching.
